   I am hoping someone can help me with this.  I was once reading this book on songwriting where the author mentioned that you could obtain tracks with no words and practice writing to those. I no longer have that book and i was wondering if someone could tell me where i could possibly find these music tracks with no words. I am not looking for loops.  But music(instrumental music) with no  words. Like music you would hear on the radio or like when you buy your favorite single and it has the song plus the instrumental version. I am looking for R&B versions of that.     I write lyrics, and i hear music in my head but i don't play just yet. I am working on it though. But for those times when i am  blocked i am looking for prerecorded music that i can buy...   does this make sense?  I hope so. So where would i go about finding and buying this? Jam

But don't most instrumental tracks have an instrument play the melody line?  It would be hard to write with that line there.  Your melody will end up being a response to it. Doyle

I'll agree with ya.  That's why I would recommend the accompaniment soundtracks (see earlier post) as, no such melody line exists.  They are tracks recorded by an original artist but, replicated so that non-pro singers may perform them as well.  Hence, the melody would come from the singer.  Hope that helps to clarify. There are electronic devices that will strip vocals or music or a part from commercial music.  Therotically you coudl make custom Karoke from these and in the long run they are cheaper then a big supply of Karoke tapes and you don't have to stay with limited Karoke selection.  Also you can keep up with the times as your tastes change and stuff.  They are in almost all the mail order music catalogues.  I don't endorse any particular company but I can look up some models and vendors if this ia an idea you would like to pursue.  I have been wanting to get one and a vocal harmonizer but I'm broke. Hope that gives you another idea.   I like it because it a one time expendture more or less. Gene
