A curious, off-the-wall question popped into mind recently:  Do you folks know of any sweet, lyrical soli for trumpet or for trombone within a symphony?  I can't immediately recall any right off the top of my head.

There are some elegant fluegelhorn exposures in Vaughan William's 9th Symphony, and a reveille-ish passage for trumpet in the slow movement of his Pastoral (3rd) Symphony. In Hans Pfitzner's Symphony in C# minor, a solo- trumpet-against-pizzicato strings passage serves as the climax of the slow  movement. cheers

Anybody know of anything of this nature for trombone?
